Week 16

At the same time of trying to wait for the animations to be animated. I'm taking the time to catch up on work in other modules and help the group catch up on blogs, shotgun, and also produce the production bible of the film to be presented in front of everyone in class. I hope all will go well.

Week 15

I have finalised, improved and passed the files over. It has been back and forth with the transference to see what files will get an error or what won't transfer over.  Now we wait for Joash to animate and once he hands some scenes it will be up to Suqin and I to post produce and draw in some 2D effects into the animation.

Week 14 - White space week

We took this time to discuss the redesigns and revisions on certain scenes and model designs. I was making adjustments to the environment setting and configurations regarding the lantern emissions and signboards, and it was pretty hectic since I sorta lost touch on illustrator for a bit. but eventually i got the hang of it.

Week 13

Good evening,  On this week the models, environment textures and lighting had to be troubleshooted due to some errors in the file transfers from me to Joash. Other than that, not a lotta peeps were accepting about the initial billboard ideas I thought of implementing, so those will need to undergo some changes to obey the overall vibe and aesthetic.

Week 12

POC was great, we got some good and constructive feedback. At this point i'm still fixing up the environment layout for the street and it's up to the rest of us to push on to finish the final half stretch of the shortfilm. Other than that, Digital Post Production now coincides with our Conceptual Development project, thus after we finish our animation we need to post-produce it with sounds and stuff.

Week 11

Not much to show, I was getting ready to layout and finish up the environment assets and set. At this time Joash is animating the POC as we speak for the upcoming showcase milestone next week.  This is a draft of the layout before we add anymore supplementary fill lights and signboards

Week 9 and 10

Salutations,  On this week I had been researching and looking up online on how to get the toon shader effect up and running. Very render intensive, a lot of optimizations and troubleshooting had to be done in order for Maya to not fry up my motherboard. The toon shader contours are customizable, however the shader surfaces aren't very sensitive to showing highlights and rim lights when emissive lighting shines onto objects with said shader.

Week 8 of animation production

Good Evening,   This blog was delayed in preparation for the common test I took on 3D Animation Production. These are just the texturing works i managed to conjure up at the time with a tight schedule.  That is all.

Week 7 of 3D Animation Production

Good Evening, This week's progress has shifted quite a bit as a lot of other works have gotten in our way for a brief period.  I am now tasked with texturing the models and characters while Suqin handles rigging and Joash to handle the animation tests.  That is all for now.

Week 6 of 3D Animation Production

Good evening,  We have made substantial progress in our project work in which we are satisfied to inform. Currently we are in the midst of UV mapping out the entire environment and props and we are aiming to get it done by next Wednesday (020621).  In the span of a week I have managed to produce the interior layout and models of B0B's store which had some alignment issues but was well managed thanks to the architecture and layout done by both of my colleagues. SuQin has done a great job in modelling out the character Dinda, can't wait to see her come to life.  Joash had made an animatic that was pretty spot on to what we were looking for with the exception that there could have been a little more.

Week 5 of 3D Animation Production (REUPLOADED)

It's been a busy week trying to get my schedule wrapped up with other assignments, so there wasn't much to be done. However, i'm still optimistic about getting this project spick, span and shining. Fixed: - Scaling of objects have been adjusted from cm to m after an error was discovered - UV mapping was inconsistent Updated:  -  Added additional props like pillars, windows and air conditionings to the buildings.

Week 4 of 3D Animation Production - Modelling

Good evening, So far in my experience the only issue i'm having on my part of this assignment is emptying out my storage capacity to make more way for newer files and documents. I have found some corrupted 3D maya files that somehow forces my computer to sleep but the issue has now been resolved and neutralized.  C̸̳͒͐̌̈͛̓͝Ơ̵̛̝͕͈̭̭͇͋̈́̎̀̆̏̓̋̋̊̏̚͘R̵̡̪̖͍̮̣̘̠̗̱̮̿͒̑̌̕͘R̷̨̛̭͔͈̹͖͔̎͗̍̇̀̆͑̄̐̄̾̎̊̚Ü̸̪̼͍̽̌͑͌́̈́̆͘̕͘͘͝͝P̸̛̤̺͌̀̔͂Ţ̸̛̩͖̤̻͙̰̬̖̄͗̾̉͜͝͝͝͝ͅÊ̶̲͔͐̌͗̒̌̋̚̚Ḑ̵̜͖̘̳̮̮̯̞̜̝͕͂̽̈́̕ͅͅ ̷͈͙̂͋͝Ḍ̶̺̏͛̌͌̄̇͋͑̍̏̕̕͠͝͠A̵̝̣͈̮̋̍́̒̽͘̕͝T̷̻̥̺̗̙͐̒̽̃́́̿̉̕͝Ā̵̤̦̣͙̜̙̂́̀ Because of SuQin's prompt ability in producing the drafts for the short film, I have been able to produce some of the 3D assets and environments.  B0B's Ramen Shop Shophouses These buildings were drafted out well, however there were some misalignments in trying to model them out according to scale. Thus, this would incur another change to be revised.  A drafted Hologram robot - End Log

Week 3 of 3D Animation Production – Drafting

Good Evening,  This marks the 3rd week of 3AP, and also for CPD.  Since the last blog, my group and I have decided to choose SuQin's story to animate for our short animated film titled "B0B" We have started with some preliminary sketches, drafts and storyboards. Most of the discussions now is how to make the designs of the characters and assets more manageable to model in Maya.  Nothing extravagant has happened since we're all still planning. More to be told once we have stuff done.  - End Log

Week 2 of 3D Animation Production – The Pitch

Good evening everyone,  Today (280421) we had to deliver our story pitch to our Lecturers and fellow classmates, to see which story seems fit for us to animate for our Concept Development class. And since it is over and done with, I guess I'll be much obliged to disseminate the info on what we're working on now.  >ACCESSING FILE > ************ >PERMISSION GRANTED_

Week 1 of 3D Animation Production – "JQK Studios"

Good evening,  Today marks the first week of 3D Animation Production, where i work in a team of 3 people – myself included – to pitch and produce a 1 minute animation.  The group comprises, Chua Suqin, Joash Lee, and myself. Both Suqin and I are specialised in 3D animation, and Joash is specialised in Character Animation. In this role combination, we're hoping that two people would work on designing the assets, characters, and environment and the third to be the one animating the motions.  We're called JQK Studios which is an acronym of our initials. Creative aye? and currently i'm designing the logo for our studio. We're still in the pitching phase. I can't disclose openly here just yet about what we're working on, but soon after the pitch to our mentors and esteemed classmates, we'll be able to share on what's in the works. Stay tune. – Koda

Webinar Time!

For my next assignment in Fundamentals for Creative Professionals, we were tasked to attend some webinars and understand the medias used in the big industries.  The webinars I attended were called " Demystifying Post-Production | Color Correction and Grading: Designing Creative Looks & Grades " and " Media Composer: Working with Color Corrections ". Demystifying Post-production | Color Correction and Grading: Designing Creative Looks & Grades  In this seminar they talked about Color Correction and Grading in the software of Cinema 4D, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Davinci Resolve 16. Overall the seminar focuses on what a lot of creative professionals will be experiencing when they get themselves into these softwares that are used by the big studios in the industry The presenter, Maximus Raharjo, went through the pipeline of his work, and demonstrated his workflow. He also went through what each function does in adding filters and manipulating the colours of scenes...

Service Learning Project: Collaboration with Knowledge Channel on The Basa Bilang Project.

Good day to any of you who stumble upon this blog. My name is Syaqil, but my friends call me Koda. Currently as of 2020, I am in my 2nd year of Polytechnic studying animation.  In one of my modules called Fundamentals for Creative Professionals II (FCP2) we were given the opportunity to contribute to The Basa Bilang Project, which was hosted by The Knowledge Channel. This project was one of many that was tasked to other animation students in collaboration to produce educational content for children in the Philippines. It was crucial as this meant that kids who are unable to pursue formal education can still look for their education online through the Knowledge Channel.  Due to the Covid-19 pandemic that has struck the world, our interactions with them through the collaboration had to be done through an online meeting and discussion. Most of the work is carefully deliberated by our own lecturers who oversee our progress in the project, telling us what to improve on and being th...

The Spark

My own creativity and style came about when I read a lot of comics when I was just a kid. I remember tracing out my favourite pokemon with rice paper I snatched from the kitchen. I would trace them out an indulge on their cute little designs and cool superpowers. Throughout, I began thinking about making my own characters. To me it felt like as though I was like god for a moment when I drew out my first few simple characters. Soon after that, I took after the idea of it when I learned that some cartoonist drew whacky characters because it was the only medium that gave their ideas life. A Character Design I did of myself By the time I reached 13, I began trying out other mediums to play around with my work. I improved, but not because I thought I needed to. I just had a lot of fun with what I did. Currently, my preferred form of mediums are traditional pen and paper. My tools of the trade include but not limited to Fountain pens, Rapidographs, Markers and Brush pens. ...

Koda

Hello everyone! My name is Syaqil Sarafian also known as AphelionArts. My friends however call me Koda, so address me whichever is easier (^ ^ ) I'm an 18 year old Scorpio living in Singapore. My background is that I am of Malay-Singaporean, while in actuality my ethnicity is a mix of Bugis and Javanese, all which is within the archipelago I reside within. I'm an aspiring artist, illustrator and animator who wishes to bring good entertainment in the finest quality to his audience. Other than drawing — Which I love most dearly — I like to go out for long walks, hang out with friends, and eat a lot of pizza! — A little to know of myself is that I started drawing — much like any other artist — when I was little. Till now I'm still learning each time I produce a new artwork and each one of them is like a spiritual experience for me. I also teach art to kids younger than me whenever they needed any help, in which I open up my service to them the best I could. I wouldn...
